Thomas M. Dixon, a former Republican member of the St. Joseph County Election Board who was elected board chair in January 2023, publicly called on county council candidate Jamie O’Brien to leave the race in a Facebook comment.
Commenting under O’Brien’s campaign Facebook page, Dixon wrote: “Jesus, Mary and Joseph Jamie ( a very Irish Catholic introduction to confront a difficult reality), in my eyes you have lost all worthiness. I’m so saddened by your downward spiritual spiral into self serving power, at the cost of harming lifelong and dedicated Republicans. To the extent my perspective is important to you, withdraw from this race.”
O’Brien’s post said: “Big thanks to ATeam Andy Rutten ( a Republican in good standing unlike my opponent) for his hard work with the bigger signs.”
